We had a wonderful meal here with couple friends. We got most of their signature dishes and enjoyed everything: * Hojok Galbi * Truffle Potato Pancake * Honey Korean Fried Chicken * Perilla Oil Noodle * Budae Jjigae We were so full that we had no room for dessert -- a rarity for me. The crowd is on the younger side, but the lighting was too dim for anyone to notice my white hairs.

What a treat!!! The food here was fantastic. While I wasn't sure what to expect from "Korean Soul food", the dishes were so creative and delicious. While all the dishes were had were tasty (honey KFC chicken, lamb bulgogi, hojok galbi, jangjorim fried rice, and perilla oil noodle), the galbi and fried rice stood out for us. One small feedback is not to charge the guest for the extra leaves and veggies (ssam set)..while $5 was nothing, it would go a long way by not charging the guest. The open kitchen decor was a nice touch as you can see the flame while waiting for your food.

It's been a while since I went to a restaurant that truly "wowed" me, and I'm happy to say that Hojokban unexpectedly impressed me. Our experience first started when we realized that we would be 45 minutes late to our original reservation time. This concerned me as there was a $15 per person fee for no shows or cancellations. Therefore, I called and explained that I would be late and asked if there is anything that could be done. Fortunately, they said that they had a later reservation available that they could give us. The second we stepped inside, we were transported into a beautiful modernly decorated restaurant with dim lighting. We were given kimchi to start off our meal and when we finished the kimchi, they were kind enough to give us more, which I haven't seen before in other Korean restaurants. Even the napkins and kitchenware were aesthetically pleasaing and added to the ambiance. We ordered the jongjorim fried rice and the ramyun fried rice. As expected, both of the dishes were presented beautifully. My jongjorim fried rice had a ring of parsley/cilantro and was topped with a small cube of butter. The braised beef was tender and flavorful and the butter made everything taste better. My boyfriend loved his ramyun fried rice and noted that it had a satisfactory spice level. The servers were very attentive to our water levels as well. Overall, we had an amazing time at Hojokban and we would definitely recommend it!

Got the chance to come here as the result of managing to get a reservation after someone cancelled theirs last minute. I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting walking in, but I left with a very strong feeling of satisfaction. The ambiance of the restaurant gave it a modernized yet formal vibe, and I remembered the lighting of the place feeling very cozy. The staff were very friendly, and each dish tasted even better than the last. Unfortunately I was only able to get photo for the sweet fried chicken, but it was exceptionally good and hard to resist as I waited for the rest of the food to arrive. The other dishes I recalled having were the garlic pork jowl, which was a bit savory for my taste but still really good, and the hojok galbi, which had a nice texture and flavor to it. The food itself was relatively expensive, but the servings were large and we had enough for leftovers between two of us. This was overall a very pleasant experience, and a place I would happily go to again if given the opportunity.
